Watchdog wants Google resume access to FC Akhmat’s YouTube channel

MOSCOW, Jan 15 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has demanded that Google resume access to a YouTube channel of Chechnya-based football club Akhmat, according to a statement released on the authority’s website on Friday.

“The communications service sent letters to Google with a request to lift all access restrictions to the official YouTube channels of football club Akhmat from the city of Grozny and promotion company Absolute Championship Akhmat,” the statement read.

The authority said that any access restriction to official accounts violates people’s right to free access to information and interests of sports fans.

The club said the channel was blocked without any reason and that fans will get information on other sources.

The U.S. earlier slapped sanctions on the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation, named after the former Chechen leader, father of Ramzan Kadyrov, who initiated creation of the foundation, and the related companies and clubs, including football club Akhmat.
